Nate Hancock


 

Nate Hancock is serving up a tasty new musical biscuit to satisfy your soul munchies with his new video and single: “What I Got Cookin’ Up,” from the upcoming full length album, “No Place Quite Like Home” on Modern Roots Music. “What I Got Cookin’ Up” is a spicy gumbo blend of Roots Rock Music ala 2015. 

Steeped in the blues of the Muddy Mississippi, a few hours from where Nate grew up, marinated in traditional soul-gospel of one of his first musical mentors, Joey Williams, guitarist for The Blind Boys Of Alabama and Robert Randolph, and in-fused with the So-Cal funk/ska styling’s of more recent co-conspirator Norwood Fisher of Fishbone/Trulio Disgracious. Throughout this entire interstellar musical trip, Hancock ended up working with Neil Young as the Location Manager on his new “Monsanto Years” album and DVD.

 The later inspired Nate to record an entire LP, live to 2”/16 track tape, whilst filming the experience, and adding social activism to the cause.

 “What I Got Cookin’ Up” is the first video/single of the nine (9) new songs on “No Place Quite Like Home.” The album is produced by Dave Jerden—Jane’s Addiction, Talking Heads, Rolling Stones, Social Distortion, Alice In Chains—along with Modern Roots founder Jimmy Sloan—Neil Young, Blind Boys of Alabama, Fishbone, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper—and LA’s first call Harmonica Player, official member of The Blues Brothers Band, and frontman for The Imperial Crowns—Jimmie Wood. 

 “When I was twelve years old, my mom got me my first three records for Christmas, one of them was “Americana” by The Offspring, along with "Nevermind" and "Highway to Hell".. It’s an honor and a privilege to be working with Dave (Jerden), the man who not only produced “Americana”, he also mixed one of my favorite all time jams: “Rock-it” by Herbie Hancock.”

 "Jimmy (Sloan) united the vibes of Norwood (Fisher), Edwin Birdsong (“Cola Bottle Baby”, ”Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” Daft Punk/Kany West) and David Palmer (Rod Stewart, ABC, The The) for my first release on Modern Roots: “Country Funk". This time around, Jimmy and I knew that we had to go above and beyond after we finished working with Neil (Young) on “The Monsanto Years.” With Dave Jerden at the helm, and Jimmie Wood injected into the sonic stew, Modern Roots Music ups the ante. This is Nate Hancock’s ode to Mother Earth:  "What I got Cookin Up" from the up and coming full length album NO PLACE QUITE LIKE HOME. Look for Nate Hancock at intimate venues to large theaters and festivals World Wide.
